Nikelle's Apron!

So I finally got Nikelle's apron done! I had some more material to make her hot pads, I just love em! It was hard to try making this without a real pattern so i just altered two other patterns to come up with this. I want one for me now!

New Makings

I really needed to update my duvet cover so I went and made this reversable duvet cover and accent pillow with flowers! I think it turned out pretty good, it'll be cuter once I can get two more pillows with brown shams to go with.

I'm really wanting to make this apron for my sister Nikelle's wedding, isn't it cute? We'll see if I can get it to turn out that way... I'll have to post the final project for sure.
Since Bella has been getting ticks every time we go for a walk and since they are so hard to find in her fur we decided to give her a trim... Oops, it was a little shorter than intended. I just hope it grows fast! lol
Now she looks like a cat / rat but still cute!!!

A few summer projects finished!

So I finally got Jared's birthday present finished! It took me forever. Psalms 23 is Jared's favorite scripture so I stitched it for him. Glad to have it finished. These are some cute hot pads I just finished, they are a little lopsided but I think they turned out well!

This apron took me a while to do as well, it was a lot of ironing and sewing edges, it's for my sister Janae for her wedding this coming weekend, I'm also making the same hot pads for her and hopefully some matching kitchen towels.

I wish the coloring looked better in these pictures, they are really bright pink.

It looks way cute with the bow, I think!

Wes Des Moines 2010

I finally have something to blog about! I just made these super cute pin cushions, one for my mom and one for me, I love them! They are from the fabric I'm using to make my sister Janae's apron for her wedding June 12th, I just hope I get it done by then. Should be cute! We're now in West Des Moines for the summer, it's a really nice area, everything is pretty new and kept nice, the weather has just changed this week to being in the 90's and very humid. I feel for the guys that are out knocking on doors all day. Jared is doing very well, he's been the top rep in our office since getting out here, I love him! He's such a hard worker, I know I could never do what he does.
We've been thinking about making the move to Georgetown Texas to be closer to Jared's Dad, brother and sister in law (and kids), they are so fun to be around so it makes it a lot easier to know that we will have a blast. We both have a chance to be set up with jobs and housing is so much cheaper than in Utah. Will post more once the decision is final.
I'll be posting more pictures once I get more little crafts made, I'm excited!

H. Joyce Elton Dyer 1941 ~ 2009 Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, H. Joyce Elton Dyer, passed away Monday December 14, 2009, in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 68, after enduring many years with Alzheimer's Disease. Born June 29,1941, in Los Angeles, California, daughter of Jack Harold Elton and Margaret Kathleen Newman. She spent her childhood, high school, and early married years in Southern California. She loved the ocean. Joyce attended BYU where she met and married Grady Tom Dyer. They were sealed in the LDS Los Angeles temple on June 22, 1962. They had seven children and raised their family in Bountiful, Utah. Joyce had a strong sense of family, which extended from her siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, and beyond. She had a huge heart. She was a friend to the stranger and the down trodden. An active member of the LDS church she served in many callings including, Relief Society, Young Women's Leader, and Camp Director where she led hikes through the Wasatch Mountains. She loved doing genealogy and writing family histories. Joyce was extremely active. She enjoyed hiking mountain trails, playing racket ball, and ran a marathon at age 43. She spent hours reading novels, and had an intense love of good books. She will be truly missed, but all will remember the lessons she taught of compassion and unconditional love. She is survived by husband, Grady; children, Christi Ford, Lisa Snow, Michael Dyer, Wendy Haslam, Steven Dyer, Jaime Dyer, and Jared Dyer, and their spouses; 18 grandchildren; siblings, Robert Elton, Larry Elton, Connie Erskine, and Dennis Elton; she is preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held December 19, 2009 at 12:00 noon at the Bountiful Mueller Park Stake Center, 1800 East Mueller Park Road (1800 S.) A viewing will be held Friday December 18, from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral services. Interment will be held at the Bountiful City Cemetery.

New Moon!

After I finished Jared's quilt we had leftover fabric so I make Bella a Christmas/Birthday dress. I'm sure she just loves that I did that for her.

November Project

Sewing all the levi's for Jared's Utah quilt I've been making. On the last row! Jared is an amazing quilt master, I think he did more that I did.

I was in charge of threading all the needles while they played around.. My fingers are still sore... It turned out pretty awesome if I do say so myself!

My Parents came out to visit Jared and Me. They drove all the way from Utah and then back so they could see most of the church sites along the way. It was awesome to have them here although it was only for about a day and a half that I actually got to see them. I miss home but get to be back soon!

Nauvoo and Carthage Jail

We are just about there after a 2 hour drive to Nauvoo!

This is an original peace of the old temple at the visitors center

We took the 50 minute horse carriage tour through the old Nauvoo town

The poor horses that were pulling us, it was a pretty warm day.

We passed a brass band that drives around and plays for everyone, they are all missionaries.

This is the way the pioneers treked. the wagon was tiny!

The end of the trail of tears as the pioneers were kicked out of Nauvoo, this is where they crossed the Mississippi river, it was 30 degrees under freezing and the river was frozen over.

Tons of lilly pads, but they aren't called that, I can't remember the name,

It's only about 18 to 20 inches deep where all the green stuff is.

Simeon Dunn lived here, I don't know who he is but the houses out there are awesoome, I didn't know that the stars they have on the building are the ends of support rods they have running through the house to make it stronger.

Where Lucy Mac Smith, Josephs mommy last lived and died.

I don't remember who's house this was, but they were fixing it up a little more. There are tons of missionaries out there keeping up the old town and teaching everyone about the times and Joseph's life.

This is one of my most favorite temples now, I love it!

We took a tour from the Community of Christ church, they own part of the town, Jared loved their gift shop! We did buy the book of Mormon, not the hat. But that Book of Mormon is a photo copy of the 1830's first edition of the book.

The old motel they were building by the river the same time the temple was being built. It was supposed to be MUCH larger but they were more worried about getting the temple built so it only got two stories high and then later got finished to look like this. It was going to be as big as the temple. There were 20,000 people in town I guess, that's why they were going to make it so big, as of the last sensus there are only about 1,600 people living in Nauvoo now.

The back side of the Motel. Emma Smith remarried and lived here with her new husband for the last of her days. Her room where she slept and later died was the window on the left with the fire escape going up to it.

The Mansion originally was as large as the fence is long but a tree fell and ruined the back part, they were able to restore this much. Joseph had to rent out all the rooms exept for 3 where he and his family lived. They were poor..

The house behind is josephs first home in Nauvoo. Besides a tiny wooden cabin I guesss.

The door with the bullet holes. The first was though the lock on the edge of the door, the second was in the middle where Hyrum had his face as he was holding the door shut, he was killed instantly as the bullet shot him in his face.

This trench, or ditch was built by Joseph and his followers to drain the swamps to the Mississippi so they could actually live on the land.

Jared and I got to clean the whole temple, we were in every room and after they took us to the very top of the tower, we stood just under Moroni's feet! It's 10 stories high.

Last Few Weeks

Jared and I went 4 wheeling a couple of weekends ago up to the West Mountain Tower. We had never been up that way and it was an amazing view! On the trail we saw some pictographs that were pretty cool.

Last Saturday we went to the Festival of Colors! I didn't want to be in the dust cloud so I took the pictures of the mess. Jared had to clean his ears 5 times to get all the colored chalk out! It was pretty funny!

I finally got Bella a collar, YAY, now she's ours for real! ha ha She really hated it at first but it doesn't bother her much anymore. She's about three pounds now and so active and lovable!

Summer plans!

So yes... We have once again decided to do another summer of sales! I think this summer will be so good for us since Jared has been improving his sales approach and pretty much mastered it from what his last three day's in Grand Junction, CO has proved. Also I will be working as an office assistant, so for me to have a job will automatically be a huge plus! Jared worked hard last summer supporting both of us as I was having a hard time finding me a job. I'm glad to be able to help ease the stress of summer sales this time around. We found out a little while ago that we will be going to Orlando, FL for this summer. I'm pretty excited to be able to travel to a new place and to have some fun attractions to visit when we can find the time to do so. We will have to be out of our apartment on the 1st of May but won't be leaving to Orlando until Jared has finished his tests for this semester of classes so we should be able to hit the road on the 8th. We've loved our apartment we've been staying in since September, the ward is really good, well that's what I though until they asked us to speak in church this coming Sunday... Just kidding, I still like it. I'm still working part time as a dental assistant for Smith Pediatric Dentistry in American Fork, I have learned so much and love the little kids that come in! I'm sad to be leaving it. Jared has been so busy with school in the mornings and has been working two jobs on top of that until recently, now he's back to one job which eases stress for him. And I'm certainly glad to see him more now!
The other day I realized that we have been married over a year and five months! It's so crazy how the time flies and I have loved every moment of it! I'm so glad that we have more years to come together. Jared is such an amazing husband!

new coffee table update!

Well Kim told me that I had to get some new pictures up so I added the only ones I had. I was tired of my coffee table being just plain so I made Nikelle come with me to get ideas of what to do with it.

I found this pattern online and traced it and cut it out into a stencil, which took forever. But I think it turned out pretty well, it even matches!

Birthday's

A party by ourselves! Jared's birthday is two weeks after mine. It's a lot of cake in one month mostly because I have two other sisters birthdays in the same month but it's all been yummy!

Jared had just gotten home from Cancun so I made him a Mexican cake with decorations to match, it made his day!

Jared made my favorite kind of cake for my birthday! We pretty much ate the whole thing...

November 21st

So I haven't written in here for a long time. But I have a feeling not too many people see this but I'll write anyways, Stacy looks sometimes I think! She's my only follower! Anyways, I'm just sitting at home by myself while waiting for Jared to get home from his week of selling door to door in Pheonix, AZ. It's been a long week! I'm still working for Stores Online and it's been a really good job. Jared is looking into working for AFLAC insurance in Sandy. I'm hoping he works there, it will be a steady good job for us. I graduated from Practical Dental Assisting of Utah on November 1st and am still job searching. So if anyone knows of a good office that's hiring, let me know! We're living in a duples just off of state street and really close to the American Fork Hospital in Pleasant Grove. We really like it for now, wish is were a house to call our own but that will happen later on I'm sure. The ward is pretty great, I've even met a new friend! YAY! Jared is working on a secret Music Video that when finished we'll have to have a premier with all to join. I'm the camera girl so that should tell ya that it's going to be AMAZING!!! I thought I would at least update a little of my blog even though I don't have any new pictures. Since Jared got home near the end of August we've been living in Cedar Hills with his cousins. I finally got a job YESTERDAY with a company called Stores Online. I mosly just sit all day and do TONS of paper work but the day goes by way fast, I like it so far. I'm just way excited for when I'm finished with this Dental Assisting class I'm taking and can work in an office soon! Jared is working in the call center for APX until he figures out where he wants to go next. We have just found a place to live in American Fork near the Mount Timpanogos Hospital. I really like the area and we are hopefully moving in this weekend! We'll have some more pictures up when that happens hopefully. I'm hoping Jared finds a job with a State Farm agent like he hopes to so we can have some time with eachother again. I go to work at 8:00 AM and get home at 5:30. He goes to work at 2:00 and gets home at 10:00PM. I've been too spoiled not having a job and all the time I wanted with him! At least it's only for a little while.

Our Summer

This has been a hard summer with the long hours Jared has to work each day and me with out anything to do especially a job gets frustrating. I'm so happy when the weekends come because I have Jared all to myself! He's been doing very well lately with getting sales even though everyone has been kicked out of many different towns by the police. The summer is almost over, only about a month left and it can't come too soon! We're excited to be getting back to Utah and to start normal lives with normal jobs and hopefully sooner that later a home to start makin babies in!!! We miss everyone at home and can't wait to see them soon!
